About and how we review
Who writes this
Boat Dealer Desk is written by Mason Bennett, a working boat dealership GM. It covers the parts of the job that don't make the brochure: leads, service bays, storage, software, and which AI tools are worth paying for.
Mason writes about the industry independently. Nothing here speaks for his employer or for any manufacturer.
How the directory works
- Public sources only. Each listing is built from the vendor's own public pages, linked on its profile.
- Pricing exactly as published. If a vendor publishes a price, we quote it and show the source and the date it was checked. If not, it says "Not published." Lenders are marked as such.
- Unknown means unknown. If a detail can't be confirmed on a public page, it's labeled "unknown." Third-party estimates are labeled unverified.
- Regular re-checks. Vendor pages are re-checked monthly, and price changes go in the pricing tracker change log.
- Vendor claims stay vendor claims. When a vendor quotes an unsourced statistic, we say so.
Money and conflicts
- Vendors cannot pay to be listed, to be ranked, or to change a listing.
- If the newsletter takes sponsors later, sponsored content will be clearly labeled. Sponsors get no say over reviews.
- Any vendor relationship the author has will be disclosed on the relevant page.
Corrections
Vendors and readers can send a correction with a public source. Accepted corrections are dated.
